Quick coupler valves and keys are a common sight at golf courses, commercial properties, and even in residential applications, providing a time-tested way to easily access a pressurized line while keeping it safe and secure. These valves, made of durable brass including the lid, prevent debris from entering the system. The replaceable and serviceable O-rings ensure a watertight seal between the valve body and the key.
The inlet threads of the valve are 3/4-inch female pipe thread (FPT), typically installed on a 3/4-inch riser from a 3/4-inch mainline (continuously pressurized) tee or elbow fitting. It is common to place a 7- or 10-inch round valve box, with a lid at grade level, over the valve.
The double lug valve key, with a durable brass body and a steel handle, is used to operate the valve. Inserting the key into the valve and turning it clockwise turns the water on, while turning it counterclockwise turns it off. The outlet threads of the key are 3/4-inch male pipe thread (MPT), allowing for easy adaptation to hose thread with a 3/4-inch FPT x 3/4-inch MHT brass hose-to-thread fitting, ensuring proper application of pipe tape to the MPT threads on the quick coupler.
These quick coupler valves and keys are designed for outdoor irrigation use with cold water only, providing a fast and easy connection to a pressurized line anywhere in a landscape.
